i dont know if im posting in te right bit but my 2 week old has a cold. After a day or so of being home from the hosp i had it, then a few days later my son got it, is there anything i can do about his stuffy nose? I can tell its annoying him because sometimes he wont settle and sounds like a lil piggy, snorting away, bless him! is there anything at all i can do to relieve his stuffy nose?

ahh - it's horrible isn't it?

You can buy pipette-like devices for sucking the snot out of their noses, or you can suck it out yourself (this is what mums used to do!). Other than that, nothing you can do really.

You can squirt a drop of saline solution up his nose. Keep an eye on his temperature. Take him to the doctors if necessary.

Yes, a nasal aspirator from a good chemist or mail order plus saline drops if he is crusty, especially before a feed works well. It may help to prop his mattress up a bit too.

if breastfeeding then breastmilk works as well (if not better) than saline drops

My six week old had one last week and I shut the windows in the bathroom and ran the shower until it was steamy, then sat in there with him. I think it helped him.

I hope he is better soon.
