Chicken pox, help please!

My 1 year old DD, who's just recovered from hand,foot & mouth has hung out with a any who's got a confirmed case of the pox. She's got a spotty rash all over her tummy & nappy area.
Has anyone got any tips or tricks to help me to help my DD through this?

Ah bless her - chicken pox is no fun. We used a mousse called Clinpox (or it might be Poxclin, I can't remember) from Boots which really helped the spots. Then just Calpol to help with the general feeling of being unwell. And lots of cuddles. It's over reasonably quickly, mercifully. Good luck.

Are you sure it's a pox rash? Like mosquito bites? The incubation period is quite long, when did they hang out?

If it is pox, don't panic. One is a great age to get it. Old enough to form immunity but young enough for it to be mild. Get some piriton syrup and some Poxyclin mousse. Neither of mine seemed that bothered, it just affected their sleep for two nights - lots if friends with poxy toddlers have said the same.

Add bicarbonate of soda to bath water. It soothes the itch and helps scab them over faster.

My DS had the pox at about 18 months. Piriton helped the itching and also helped him sleep. Calpol for general 'unwellness'. We also used a brilliant (but expensive) gel called Virasoothe. Tarka is right, a good age to get it as its very manageable and you get to have lots of cuddles. Hang in there!!

Just back from the Dr's & Tarka you're right its not the pox. Dd has 'unidentified viral rash' but it looks miles better today so hopefully she'll fight it off.

I'm glad it's not the pox. Dd used to get viral rashes, normally at the end of being ill so hopefully your dd will be feeling better soon.

...keep an eye out for the pox though. Incubation period is up to three weeks. The spots are quite distinctive. Pointy like bites rather than rashy and stand out quite easily from skin.
