Help! My baby gets sore and can't get his wind up. Tried gripe water and infacol. Any tips on positions for burping etc? Night feeds are so long and so stressful at the mo...Confused

Place your baby over your shoulder and gently rub his back in a circular motion.

Oh I have this problem. I find that the old fashioned chin on hand sitting on your knee and patting back works best. But every baby is different.

Bicycle legs, face down on lap, Bopping up and down with hand firmly on babies back (pretty firm, like you are squeezing it out, always works for me).

How bad is the wind? Have you looked into possibility of diet problems and tongue tie. My baby recently had tongue tie snipped (diagnosed by people on here!) and am told it will mean less wind once she's sorted out with feeding.

Is feeding going all ok?

I always felt I could sense when a burp was going to come out by the end.... they are fuckers though and I was crap at it initially.

I would agree with chin in crook of hand and your arm supporting a nice straight body, a bit stretched out. Firm, circular pushes up the back with occasional pats to dislodge things.

Are you BFing? How old is your baby? How do you know they actually have wind?

I've never routinely winded my EBF DS!

May sound crazy but try wrapping him up and taking him outside in the cold air for a few mins. This can really help and worked evey time with my daughter, who was a very reluctant burper!

I feed laying down at night so lay DS over my side to burp him. Works a treat, I guess my side slightly pushes into his tummy why also helps.
