Anyone else have anxiety about returning to work?

So my mat leave is almost over and I'm due to go back to work part time next week. The closer it gets the sadder I feel the year has absolutely flown by and I've loved spending time with my little one I just don't feel ready to go back to work.

Every time I think about it I cry and I just want to know if it's normal? Does the guilt pass? Does get easier leaving your child?

Yes and yes. It's is totally normal, I had exactly the same feelings. But do you know what? The baby will adjust within the space of a month, and so will you, I promise. Of course, it is a big adjustment. But there may also be days where you actually quite enjoy going to work, being your own person away from being a mummy. Walking away from the poo and crying for a few hours can actually help your soul in the long run! I totally vilified work, but really it was nowhere near as bad going back as I had made it in my head and wish to hell I hadn't spent as much of my mat leave thinking with dread about work, as I actually really enjoyed being back after about three months and also felt refreshed with new perspective after mat leave, so I was better at my job too. Please just go shopping, buy yourself a nice new work outfit and shoes so you feel great on first day back, get your hair cut and just treat it as a day off from childcare! Babies do adjust (as do boobs!) when you get back. Good luck!
