When did you little one first get their haircut? And how did it go?

DS is 18 months and is starting to look a bit like a scarecrow but I'm not sure if he's too young yet.

both mine had haircuts before 1 year as they were born with lots of hair

I trimmed my daughters mullet the other day, she looked like an 80's Australian extra from neighbours.

She was born with a lot of hair, nearly 7 months old now. She now has a cute little pixie cut. Grin

I've been thinking the same thing. My 10 month old little boy has a lot of hair and it's starting to look a bit messy. I've mentioned a few times about getting his hair cut it everyone always says he's far too young?

My DD had her first haircut around 18 months, I made the mistake of taking her to a salon where she had an almighty tantrum at being made to sit in the chair. For the next attempt I asked around for recommendations for a mobile hairdresser and got one to come out to the house where I could bribe her to sit still with a couple of episodes of peppa pig and it worked a treat so I would advise getting someone to come to you to do it.

DS1 was 8 weeks. So no age is going to be seen as tpp young for me. Do people meam too young to sit still events they say too young? Or something else? Obviously it is not going to be easy to do on a toddler of any age but no reason to get it done.

tobysmum77 · 28/10/2014 07:48

personally I think 18 months is too young to bother with 'proper' hair cuts but then I'm not adverse to a bit of DIY Grin

But you can cut hair at any age and get who you like to do it. Some people are just weird about things like this imo.

I got his fringe trimmed at ten months, just one long dangly but and it was lovely on him, still baby hair all over but tidier.

I didn't have the heart to go for a full cut will will have to soon

Ds1 6 months ds 2 13 weeks and every 4 to 6 weeks since. Their hair grows really quickly. Ds1 hates having it cut and will scream and wriggle ds2 now 11 months is happy to sit and have it cut.

Buttercup27 · 28/10/2014 07:57

Always had hair dresser do it - for the past year she has come to the house and does us all at the same time.

addictedtosugar · 28/10/2014 08:12

DS1 about 8 months.
DS2 about 2 yrs.

The neighbour is a hairdresser, so she came round, and cut his hair with DS1 in his highchair, while I bribed him with grapes.

She'd moved away before DS2 arrived, so he has always been to the Barbers.

Suggest doing it before it is essential, so they get a chance of a quick first cut to get the idea of what happens.
