Babies and farting

How often do your babies fart?

Im beginning to wonder if there is something the matter. My baby is ten months, and has started to fart loads in the last month or so.

Literally every few minutes at times. Even during sleep. The smell is horrendous.

Not constipated. Poos daily and always normal. Formula fed. Decent varied solids. No new or odd food added recently.

So tell me, do you have a miniature fart machine? Grin

Yup!

Perfectly normal according to my HV - all part of their digestive system learning to work apparently.

DD is 14 months and i swear they get worse!! She did one today in the lift in marks and spencer and it reeked!!! I am sure the elderly lady who went in after must have thought i was a proper scutter

My 6 month old DD frequently does this, especially when I'm about to take her nappy off, I always exclaim her name & she gives me this cute little chuckle back.

Sometimes I think she's followed through as it smells that bad, otherwise it's just noise! Grin

Yep they can fart like badgers...and hard to believe something so noisy (and smelly) can come from something so small...
DD1 as a newborn still on the ward, (curtains closed round my bed and lots of visitors at other beds) let one rip that was so loud and long I thought no-one could have believe came from such a small thing (they'd all think it was me Blush)
She also embarrassed me completely in (quite a posh) shop with my mum - DM was browsing and I was knackered -sat on a chair next to the door/till holding 2 month old DD1 - she sounded off just as an older man was walking through the door. Even the woman at the till raised an eyebrow at me... Blush
DD2 was quieter but more frequent and a silent but deadly expert - at one point I was blaming the cat...thinking it had a problem ...Grin
