Can teething really cause loose stools for nearly a month?

Dd2 cut her third tooth over 3 weeks ago. We expected some runny nappies for around a week but it still hasn't stopped. She had a slight cold at the same time, that's passed, but her poos are still very runny and smelly. They are like this at nursery and at home too.

She seems well in herself, appetite is still good. I took her to the G.P in case there is something I'd missed but he wasn't worried.

Does anyone have any tips? She's 9 months old, btw.

have you been using calpol for the teething and cold? my dd gets very runny on calpol and dentinox for that matter

if gp isn't worried I would see how she is over the next week or so and then go back or ring your health visitor

My DS is the same. He's 8.5 months and is just cutting his third tooth. He has had runny nappies since he started teething. Nursery said they see it a lot with teething babies so I figured it was normal!

I did give her calpol, mainly for the cold, rather than her teeth, but she's not had it for over a week and nothing's changed.
Thanks v much for the replies, much appreciated.

Is she going frequently or is it just loose when she does? If it's the second I wouldn't worry at all.
The teeth move around for so long under the gums and all the extra saliva getting swallowed just breaks food down so much extra thats why stools are so loose. Apart from potential for sore nappy area there's no harm done it's not the same as when food is rushed through and nutrient isnt absorbed.
My ds had diarrhea for the best part of a couple of months!
