12 month old vomiting tonight - any advice?

If anyone's around I could do with a bit of advice. 12 month old dd has been projectile vomiting for the last hour or two. Maybe 4 big sicks. She's been fine all day and has no health problems. She never does this, so have no experience.

If I get her off to sleep, should it be worried about her choking? Should I give her a bottle or will milk make her worse? Have tried a little water but she doesn't really want it. What might settle her stomach?

Sorry, this makes me seem like a huge fuss-maker.

TIA.

It's horrible when los are sick. There's loads of sickness bugs doing the rounds. The best thing I've found with mine is to not give them anything while they're being sick as their stomachs are trying to get rid of whatever is bothering them and don't usually tolerate anything in them even water. I then leave it an hr or so from the last time they were sick before I give them sips of water. I find milk makes it worse until they can keep water down.
If it continues for a long period of time phone nhs 24 (or your equivalent) for advice as los can dehydrate quickly.

Agree with SlightlyInsane. Milk makes it worse. Avoid dairy while they are being sick. Try some water and see how they are in the morning. If it continues see a GP as you may need to get some rehydration salts.

Thanks both. She's dozing, fitfully. We're out of sheets already though so I hope she's got it all out of her!

Ahh. They do tend to get it all out like that. I remember the bath fulsof messed up blankets waiting to be washed Hmm. Hopefully it won't be too bad and she perks up In the morning. Still try to avoid dairy till you can get get to keep something else down, it's not good for an empty tum. Hope you get some sleep too Smile

Hope your DD is better now OP. DD's had a few bugs and we tend to avoid dairy for at least 24 hours after. BRAT diet is what I usually follow in these circumstances: banana, rice, apple, toast.

Thank you! We had a few more pukes of diminishing size and then some sleep. Seems perky enough this morning. Sticking with toast etc for her today. And Brew for me.

I always still gave breast milk at that age when DS had a bug, I was told that was fine. But not sure about formula (though surely if bf fine then formula is fine), and I think cows milk would be a no no!
