4 month old routine

Really interested to hear your routines for your 4 month old...

DD2 is 16 weeks. We've got a good night time routine going, bath at 5.30pm, into PJs then feed at 6pm, then into cot and she self settles pretty well, normally asleep by 6.30pm. I dream feed at 10pm & she normally doesn't have her next feed until she wakes around 7am. Although we do have night wakings, usually looking for dummy or screeching/shouting which I think is 4month sleep regression related.

Naps in day are very variable. She feeds every 3 hours from 7am but is a catnapper. Just wondering how much other babies sleep at this age...

Am putting baby down to sleep anywhere between 8.30-10pm each night, he will sleep from anywhere between 7am-10am in the morning. Naps don't appear to be consistent during the day and are never very long but I don't sweat it so long as he's sleeping at night.

What do you do with your baby during the day?

DD is 19 weeks, she has a bath at 8pm and is usually bf to sleep by 9pm. She'll then wake at around 3 and 7am for a feed, and sleeps in until about 8.30-9pm if I'm lucky. She's a catnapper in the day, and self settles at around mid morning, early afternoon, and early evening. Never let her nap past 6.30.
She takes abit of entertaining now and we play on her jungle gym, go shopping, visit my mum and younger sister (she's only 8) and play in the jumperoo

God that sounds good, well done.
I have a 22 week old that won't sleep unless she's being held/on boob.
Won't sleep in cot or self settle. Just screams and screams.
No routine at all. I'm EXHAUSTED.

Dd is 16 weeks today she has a bath around 6.15/6.30 followed by a bottle and is usually asleep by 7/7.30 she still wakes either 11ish then 3/4ish then sleeps til 7 or sometimes will only wake once between 1/3 but more often than not its twice the last few days she has been stirring around 5.30 but I've tried to shush her back to sleep until 6.30/7. During the day she doesn't have set nap times but can only manage 90 min awake so still pretty reliable she can sleep for 90 min to 2 hrs this is on the sofa though we haven't tried napping in the cot yet and she doesn't self settle I cuddle her reallt need to try and get it sorted but again haven't tried it yet

Were those of you with successful routines trying to establish one from the beginning or was there a time when your babies were a little older that you started? OP yours sounds great.

I am just wondering because my baby is still in the newborn stage where people tell you just go with what the baby wants, 4th trimester etc. which I'm doing and I really can't imagine in a few months him being in a nice little routine because he screams when he's put down every time!

Sorry if this is a derailment. Blush

Lettice we tried to have a loose routine from day one we always bathed her as near to 6.30 ish as we could all depended how the feeds landed in the early days she quickly got used to it and would start to get unsettled just before like she was ready for her bath and bedtime obviously there was still lots of feeds after that but I do think it taught her night time/bed time quite early on

My baby is 11 weeks and he has his feed at 7pm, then straight down in his cot where he self settles--allowing DH and I have to have our tea! I then give him a dream feed at 11pm and then he self settles in his cot.

Don't give him another feed until he wakes between 7/8ish. He may let out a few shouts in the night, but he doesn't scream/cry like he used to when I was feeding every two hours and usually he settles down after about ten mins.

He often goes back down after this feed and sleeps til about 10ish.

Then he is pretty much awake and really alert for most of the day with little cat naps here and there but he doesn't really have long naps anymore.

Tbh I enjoy him being awake in the day as he starting to smile and laugh and plays on his gym or we go for walks... It's nice to get some time together(dh and me) in the evenings and getting sleep at night as he was feeding every 1-2 hours in the night for the first 8 weeks.Shock

Have just tried to in still a routine as early as I could. I'm sure it will all change again but I am enjoying this time for as long as it lasts!!!

Well done on your routineGrin

Lettice - I didn't have any routine when I was BFing but she sort of had her own night time routine where she would cluster feed from 6 -10pm then we'd put her in moses basket and she would wake usually twice for feeds through the night before getting up at 7am.
When I started FFing at around 6 weeks I started the nighttime routine of bathing her at same time every night, feeding then into moses basket before 7pm. I did a lot of shush/pat and picking her up to soothe then putting her back in her basket for weeks and weeks I persevered with it. But I really wanted the routine for my sanity as I was looking after her and DD1 full time so wanted the evenings with DH. She now settles really easy at 6.30pm cos shes used to it.
Still need to get daytime sleeps sorted though, they are all over the place :-)
