Not sure is this is the right place to ask but just wondered what happens at the 6 week postnatal check I'm feeling a bit nervous! Tia xx

Nothing much in my case. Quick chat, mainly about contraception! Pointless really and worst bit wad trying to get out the house for a set time.

Oh thank you was a bit worried about having to be examined! No idea why considering what happens in labour Hmm that's good though thank you! I'm dreading trying to get out though it's a bit of a mission haha! Xx

Contraception chat, postnatal depression check, make sure bleeding settled and my GP even checked that my abdominal muscles were coming back together. I had a combined apt with DD for her neonatal check so lasted about 20mins

They will just talk to you about contraception and ignore all requests for diastasis recti referral. Depending on your GP they may try to do a hard sell on the mirena coil as they get a payment for each one they insert.

Firsttimemama3 · 03/10/2014 21:21

Thank you! I'm not keen on the idea of a coil! Out of interest what contraception did you ladies choose? Xx

I asked if I could have a think about contraception, wasnt long before i went back And found out i was pg with DS!!

SweetPeaPods · 03/10/2014 21:27

My check was a waste of time. Young male GP was very uncomfortable doing it too.
He asked how the bleeding was. Did I want the pill. When I questioned my choices with bf he got all flustered. That was it. I was expecting them to check my stitches etc. the practice nurse did ds first injections on same day though so that made it worth going.

Firsttimemama3 · 03/10/2014 21:35

That's not very professional of him! Sweetpeapods! Definitely want to get contraception sorted as soon as possible just in case! Xx

It was combined with DDs 6 week check & only thing he asked me is was I was 'feeling ok'. Didn't even ask me about contraception so I just asked him at the end if he could prescribe me some contraceptive pill.

Illhaveabpleasebob · 04/10/2014 09:57

I got the Mirena (although I requested it wasn't pushed on me). I'm happy with it. No periods and not pregnant. Not for everyone though. Have you had a look at this? Might help to know what you want before you go in?
