Naps at nursery

LO is 10 months and a nightmare for naps. Doesn't need much more than 30-40mins once a day but wil not settle in cot. Either asleep a on someone after being rocked or fed or in buggy or car.

Starts nursery soon and sooo worried about how she will sleep there. Will they get to sleep. Worried she will be a nightmare and they won't want to keep her there. Am trying to make her go down still but not succeeding at the moment.

Will nursery just think I am a rubbish mum?

Don't worry nursery are used to all different methods used by parents to get their munchkins to sleep. I never thought my dd would sleep at nursery but she did. She snoozed in a bean bag type thing next to her key worker initially and then went in a cot. On my settling in days they had a swing in the corner where they put one little bit as that was his preferred place to nap. It will be fine Grin

The nursery my DS goes to were convinced they'd get him to sleep in a cot. 3 months later I leave his pushchair with them and he falls asleep in it at nap time. Sometimes they then transfer him to a cot. Basically a good nursery will find a way that works for your kid.

I wouldn't worry - there are different rules in nursery! when DD1 went to nursery at 11 months she had never napped in the cot at home. She simply refused. By 12 months they had her napping for a 2hr stretch on a yoga mat on the floor. Crazy - she would never have done that for me. She was also only in nursery 2 days a week so I wouldn't have thought it would have been long enough to establish a good routine!

DD2 has just started in nursery and she will only sleep in a cot. In nursery however it seems she is really flexible and happy to nap in a buggy if the staff go out for a walk.

Totally different rules for nursery (and the same goes for food btw!).

My ds is 10 months and has been at nursery for three months.

He's never been a good daytime napper and I worried about what they would do.

However, he naps really well at nursery Envy goes in a cot no problems!

Weirdly he still doesn't nap well at home but sleeps well at night so I'm lucky.

You'll be surprised by what your dd will do at nursery Smile

Nursery are miracle workers.

They get my 1 year old to sleep on a mat, on the floor, alongside 12 other sleeping toddlers. Seriously. No way would she ever entertain this at home. She will sleep nowhere except in her cot.

I really really wouldn't worry about it. Let them worry about it! :)

DD napped in her buggy at nursery for ages before moving to sleeping on a mat on the floor. I'm sure she wasn't the only one. Don't worry, they're used to all sorts of sleepers.
