What is your kids' bedtime routine?

Struggling here...
3 kids -big age gaps. After baths, bottles, stories, homework, I start at 6pm then I end up sitting down myself about 9.15pm exhausted.
Dh goes to bed 45 mins later so this is madness.

... I must be going wrong somewhere.
Do you still read older kids a story? Do you send them upto bed by themselves?

Would love to know your bedtime routines for your kids?

5.30 after dinner, DS (7) and DD (14 months) are taken upstairs,, they have 15 minutes playtime while bath runs.

5.45 bath them, take DD out after 10 mins so DS can splash about and play, nappy & jammies on DD then she pootles about while i get school uniform out etc for DS

6.00 DS out of bath, dried, jammies on and sits in my room to watch bit of telly while DD has milk

6.15 DD in bed, homework with DS, then he plays until 7.15 while i tidy up bathroom and other stuff

7.30 both kids asleep and i can relax.................................

DH often not home until 9 or 10 so i can do what i want!!!

ds1 is 3, ds2 is 7 monthsish.

Bath for ds1 if needed at 4.30pm
Tea for both at 5pmish
Tv and story on settee
Teeth at 6pm
Upstairs at 6.15pm. ds1 in bed, story. ds2 either being bf (trying to stop this) or on floor fiddling
ds2 in cot in our room
back to ds1; more story if still awake

All done by 6.45, and the place to myself then

If we've been out and are back a bit late etc, I might put ds2 down first while ds1 watches tv, as I know ds2 will be out like a light, then can have more quality time with ds1.

when Daddy is around, it all goes to pot and he lets ds1 stay up late, then lies with him till he falls asleep, and when he wakes in the night

It's rushed put it that way.

Get in at between 6 and 6.30. Let girls play while I quickly unpack bags of dead food and dirty bottles and put oven on etc.
Then upstairs, for bath. DP usually arrives home by the time they are washed and teeth cleaned so he'll dry and pj one and I'll dry and pj the other.
He reads DD1 a story while I give DD2 her last feed and put her in cot. Then I go in to DD1 and read another story and go over her day. We're now at 7.30pm and all lights are off, kids asleep, and wine is poured.

If Dp is late home then I read to DD1 while DD2 either crawls around us or if she is too distracting she sits in her cot and waits for me to finish DD1's story then she gets her bottle, but if she's particularly whingey then DD1 gets to play till DD2 is sorted, then she gets her story.

dd 2
ds 10 weeks

dd has dinner at 5.30-6.00
start mine and dps meal at 6.30
bathe dd and ds together at 7.00 (dp comes home now)

whilst i dress ds dp looks after dd and dresses her for bed.
after 7.30 we all just play around for a while and all get cuddles.

dd goes bed at 8.00

ds is another story he is still yet to settle into a good bedtime routine. today he has fallen asleep early but normally goes to sleep anytime between 8-11.
once he has settled for the night, he will wake once for a feed and wake at 7-8 in the morning as will dd.

ds 16 months

He has dinner, then plays for a bit, quite often listens to some music, then a bath if he's having one (he doesn't every night). At this point it's usually approaching 9.00 (believe me, thee is no poin trying to get him to bed sooner, he just doesn't seem to need all that much sleep). Then teeth/nappy/pyjamas done by dh while I have a shower. Then I take over, read 'The Going to Bed Book' to him, sing a lullaby and bf him to sleep.

My ds is three. We have supper at 6, then heplays for a bit while I wash up. About 6:30 it's upstairs to tidy his room, teeth cleaned and pjs on. Then into bed and lots of stories and a chat about the day, then lights off and I lie with him until he falls asleep which takes between ten and twenty minutes (I created a rod for my own back when he was a baby and would only fall asleep while bf!). Between 7:30 and 7:45 I'm back downstairs for some time to myself!
It all sounds quite good and organised when writen down like this but as you all know the reality is somewhat different and the times vary a bit!
