Poor Daddy!

My 19 month old daughter will not let her poor daddy anywhere near her and we can't understand it.

He says she is better behaved with him when I'm not there but if I'm around she will not let him touch her or do anything for her and throws a massive tantrum if he tries.

The irony is, the first word she often says to me when I wake her up is daddy, the first word she says when I bring her home is daddy and she shouts for daddy when he's not in the room.

We just don't understand why she is desperate for him when he's not there but will not have anything to do with him when he is! The only thing I can think of is his work pattern, which is four on, four off so he is not there for 4 days in a row and them around lots for the next four days.

It's really upsetting me and my husband and obviously it must be upsetting for our daughter as well.

Any advice?

Thank you.

Make sure she sees you given cuddles to daddy and when she rejects him say "oh poor daddy " "we love daddy" x

Ahh poor Daddy, that must be heart breaking. But it's not anything personal! Have you read up on toddler independence? This is good www.whattoexpect.com/toddler/behavior/when-toddlers-prefer-one-parent.aspx

She does love him very much & it will pass! X

DS used to do similar not pushing DP away but asking for me. I used to video him asking for daddy as proof he did want him DS would sit on the back of the sofa waiting for DP then when he got in hardly bothered with him it was so strange. He's 2.7 and grown out of it they go to the park alone after DP gets home from work every day no matter how tired I think that's helped that they have a 'thing'.
