Are Moses baskets out of favour now?

When my DS was born 3 years ago, we got a gift of a lovely Mamas & Papas Moses basket from my ILs. We loved it and I was planning on using it again for DC2 who is due in a couple of months.

Looking online to buy new sheets and a mattress protector, however, I see that M & P have discontinued their line of Moses baskets and they seem less popular generally now. Is there a new safety issue that I'm unaware of or are they just less popular? We live in the USA now so it could be I missed out on some change in UK guidelines since I had my DS.

If I can't get new sheets etc, I was thinking of getting a co-sleeper cot that fits onto or next to our bed for the new baby instead. Anyone got any recommendations?

I bought my Moses basket recently (within last 6 months) and didn't have any problems finding one.
I got mine from mothercare, plus both fitted and flat sheets. (Not sure if they deliver to US?)
Around the same time mamas and papas were still selling Moses baskets and I also have some of their sheets too. I would imagine they still sell the sheets even if not the baskets though as they also fit their carry mattresses.

That said, I am slightly regretting not getting a crib instead as DS is only 10 weeks and is well on his way to outgrowing his Moses basket.

Not that I'm aware of! Our LO is 8 weeks so we were buying this stuff recently and Moses baskets were definitely the most popular option and the thing most sites / people recommended for the first few months. The co sleeping cribs seem to be getting popular too. We went for neither and had a regular little crib instead though. We thought it would last longer. It uses moses sheets - ours are from John Lewis. In some places the sheets were called "pram" sheets but are the same size. Hope that helps.

Carry cot mattresses that should read.

Thanks - glad to know it's not a safety issue or some new guideline on safe sleeping I'm unaware of! They seem less popular here in the US so I was starting to wonder if they had fallen out of favour in the UK too.

Good tip on checking out John Lewis for sheets etc - I'm sure they would fit and they probably ship abroad.

Not sure why you think mamas and papas have discontinued moses baskets plenty here www.mamasandpapas.com/range/moses-basketsstands/5452/

We use ours with 10 week old and it works really well for us at night he settles quickly and sleeps well. Won't be big enough for 6months but will be sad to move onto cot - which won't fit in our room Sad

Just a comment to say we used a travel cot when dd grew out of her Moses basket until she went in her own room as we couldn't fit the cot bed in our bedroom.
