Does anyone else use a contact centre for their children to see and absent parent?

Could you describe to me how it is run? I'm having some concerns about ours and I just want to check if this is normal.

I did but it was a long time ago.

There were two entrances. I could go straight in mine with DD but exh had to wait outside until he was allowed in. He wasn't allowed in if he had been drinking. DD was taken into the hall to see exh. I waited in another room until she was done. I could leave or stay, whichever I felt most comfortable with. Exh could not take DD out of the main hall.

I don't think ours is very safely run.
