Thought it had gone suspiciously quiet downstairs...

dd2 (3 months) in post-injection-calpol induced torpor in her bouncy chair; dd1 (8yo) and ds (5yo) in the garden drawing chalk pictures on a piece of old plywood and have been doing this for AN HOUR AND A HALF apparently WITHOUT ARGUING.

Does it get any better?

O.k whats your secret then

It didn't last, sadly

Rather tragically, I used the free time to wash another load of nappies and pick scattered lego off the bedroom floor.

While my back was turned, they switched to building a precarious fort out of old bricks I was planning to edge the flowerbeds with. Inevitably, it fell down and ds squashed his finger.

Ho hum. Still, more fun than doing the school run...

Hey ho frogs. I enjoyed reading about it anyway!

I found some chalks in a drawer last night - must get my DSs out chalking in the back yard!
