Angelcare nursery unit - why 1m from crib?

The instructions for the Angelcare 401 we have just bought keep making a big point that the nursery unit which attaches to the sensor pad must be at least 1m away from the crib or cot. But it doesn't explain why? I'm stumped as to why this is important. In my setup it is more convenient to have it a bit closer.

Cables?

The possibility if the baby dragging it into the cot and the consequences?

Hmm, maybe if the baby had metre long arms! Grin

Yep, it's safety with regards to the wires. They're still not particularly safe though if used as they come. DH had to drill a hole in the bottom of the carrycot to keep the wires away from DS and now he's in the cot there are cable ties everywhere so he can't grab and pull the the wires in.
