What to keep for possible baby #2 ?

2 yr old PFB was IVF so a sibling isn't a certainty by far, but we'd like another and are trying.
What's worth keeping in terms of baby things, just in case we get lucky again?
Should I sell / donate or keep the following, in particular?:

  • outgrown clothes
  • outgrown shoes
  • baby toys
Thanks!

Keep the clothes and half of the toys. Don't bother with the shoes , children need new shoes that mould to their feet.

I kept the toys dc1 liked
I kept the unisex baby clothes and a very small selection of dds clothes that of Id had another girl id be sad not to be able to use again
Shoes were thrown once outgrown as dd was measured for them so Id do the same with dc2
Kept all the big ticket items - pram, cot, carseat etc.

Baby #2 due soon so ive got some boys clothes, him his own blankets (totally pfb about dds blankets), and thats about it!

See, I wondered about the shoes as I know a few people who hand them
down and buy 2nd hand too. Guess it's not the best idea though.

I'm keeping shoes, they're expensive and some are hardly worn.

Artandco · 09/09/2014 10:31

I would keep some shoes tbh. Shoes mould to feet when walked on lots, so any baby shoes will be fine as baby not walking around in them and rarely on. Same with slippers/ snowboots and Wellington boots. I just don't pass on main shoes worn generally. Snowboots worn 2 weeks of course keep

Keep anything that costs a fair bit to replace. Ie cardigans/ coats/ hats/ dungerees cost more than basic babygrows and vests. Keep favorite toys but not all

I've kept everything! All clothes are vacuum sealed in the loft in size order! (If the next ones a girl I'll use the clothes I can and just get rid of the rest)

First car seat is packed up in the loft

Bouncy chair, Moses basket, jumperoo, playmat. All cleaned and sealed in boxes or vacuum sealed.

Baby bath, bath seat, baby toys.

We are still using the travel system apart from the car seat but soon that will be cleaned, dismantled and put away.

I'm sure there's more I kept! Pretty much anything that can save dm money next time!

Keep everything! The only things I didn't keep from ds were his more worn out shoes. His wellies, snow boots and gym shoes can be used by dd.
In fact, having decided we're stopping now (dd was IVF too Smile) I am very reluctant to part with stuff at all!
Good luck ttc again Smile
