oral thrush

Looks like my lb who is 2weeks old has got oral thursh. Is there anything I can give him seeing as I won't be able to ring gp until Monday morning or should i ring NHS direct in the mean time??

You should ring for an appointment on 111 before Monday because it makes the tongue very sore so stops they feeding. You need a prescription for Nystatin if indeed it is thrush. Wipe a damp cotton wool ball across the tongue, if it comes off it's milk residue, if not its thrush.

Get your midwife onto it to ask for the nystatin prescription.
Official advice is it's not suitable under 28 days so if you get an inexperienced gp they might not prescribe.

bitter voice of experience there.
(Was also told washing my nipples would stop any cross contamination. Cheers. )

Been to see emerrgancy gp. Got a prescription that I will have to pick up in the morning when tesco opens
