Baby vests that run long in the body?

Just that, really. 10mo DS is average weight, but has a long body. (50th centile for weight, but 75th for length, which seems to be more body than legs.) So I'm wondering if people have found brands for vests that fit that body shape well.

We do separate tops and bottoms, but I also like vests fastening under the crotch to help keep his nappy in place.

So far, we've only tried Primark and Mothercare, and I thought the way they fit must be the way things are. But I just noticed that a vest from a relative in the states fits better, so now I'm wondering if there are better brands for him in the UK, too.

vest extenders. They're fabulous, we use them all the time. I buy them (new) off ebay

I think John Lewis and Gap can be longer in the body.
Failing that you could get some vest extenders on eBay, only a few pounds.

Ours were all from John Lewis and were long enough for reusable nappies

Polarn och Pyret's tops usually come as bodysuit style up to 18 months and fasten around the nappy. Not vests but another option maybe. My DS is 75th centile for length and is only in up to 12 months in their tops.

Borttagen · 05/09/2014 15:31

And he's nearly 15 months I should have said!

Petit Bateau but they are best if his build is slim.

Marks and Spencer were by far the best for DS, who is tall with a long body and short legs. They also go up to age 2-3.

AmyByTheTrain · 05/09/2014 15:52

Thanks all!

We tried vest extenders and they do help, but for DS can result in leg holes high cut enough to show above the waistband of his trousers, which isn't quite the desired effect Blush

So we'll give some of the other suggested brands a whirl Smile

Def POP or Smafolk!

I've found Tesco F+F to be quite long and thin. You might need to go a size up, but they would still be quite slim fitting, IFSWIM.

ThirteenMeetings · 05/09/2014 17:44

Oh, and Petit Bateau, if you're feeling flush. Made for skinny French babies. DM bought one for DD and although it was long enough, it stretched across her tummy and the poppers wouldn't do up round her fat little thighs!

FreeButtonBee · 05/09/2014 17:49

sainsburys although you may need to size up. And boden although ruinously expensive are v good quality and fairly slim fit. My (admittedly teeny) 18 mo DTD has had a year out of her 6-12 month ones.

Drumsticks99 · 05/09/2014 19:08

H&M! They can cut for cloth so have a longer body/bum bit.

Also vest extenders!
