'bring him down! Get him!'

A quick question.

I was watching an under 11 footie match this afternoon. Lots of the parents were yelling 'Bring him down, get him' 'Go, on X can't do it all on his own'

Is this the norm?

Am I being a soft Jessie?

It just seemed a bit excessive for a group of 9-10 year olds. Is this something I will have to get used to?

Sadly MB something you'll have to get used to. I never cease to be amazed at the way parents talk... or should I say yell.... at their kids on the football pitch. Then there are the absolute rants and rages at the referee. It can be quite horrid!

I have to say, I've always been proud of DS, his team and the parents and coaches that go with them. Their good behaviour shines through!

yes - pretty normal I would say

There are some parents who always yell like that and then there are normally a crowd of parents who don't (problem is you tend to get worked up by the ones who are shouting and sometimes end up joining in )

even when ds did footie tots (age 4-6) there was one parent who shouted instructions to his child when they played a game at the end - one day when he didn't score, the dad said 'well the rest of them were useless so it's no surprise because you had no help'. The lad was only 4!!

ds wasn't playing, we were waiting to pick up dd and watched the match for 10 minutes.

It just seemed so OTT.

I obviously have this to 'look forward to' when ds is old enough to play
