My 2yo whines constantly and seems to zapp the joy out of everything.

I have 4dc from 15-2. I am having great difficulty coping with my youngest ds who is 2. He constantly whines and whinges. He has been a whingey baby since birth and it is really starting to get me down.

We have just returned from holiday and he seemed to spoil everyone's time away with his constant crying and whining. He dictated the mood if the whole holiday despite us all constantly trying to please him. I am seriously struggling to 'like' him but it is very difficult. Please someone help. I feel quite low about it.

Have you ruled out any medical reasons? It is draining i know. My friends ds is like this and i find him difficult to be around. My friend just ignores.

Sorry don't really have any advice. My dd 9 is being whingeing mary just now. Again i try to ignore.

I think that is it. He is just so difficult to be around. I often just don't want him near me. Whinge whinge. I've had 2 years of it and have hit a wall.
There is nothing medical, it just seems his natural disposition is grumpy and Whiney.

My other 3 had there moments, but were never like this. We all try so hard, but we have had two years of whinge.
Sometimes I wish we had never had him. I tell myself it will pass but there is no sign yet.

I haven't seen the hv since he was born. It's also so hard to arrange a visit to the doctors as I have to take ds4 with me, the doc is always running late and by the time I see the doctor, ds is going off on one and I can't even finish a sentence without him destroying the surgery room.

Encouraging words are needed :(

Have you tried Cranial Osteopathy? My friend had a non-stop whinger baby who just grizzled constantly. Eventually she took her to a Cranial Osteopath and the results were REMARKABLE. The whingeing stopped. Completely!

The cranial osteopath explained how birth can squish up babies' heads and bodies, and it just gets straightened out. All very gentle.

Please do this.

Are you with him all the time - do you get a break?

My 4yo is full of testosterone and I'm counting down the days till school starts.

He actually had some food intolerances which I think he outgrew. Now I just try and make sure he's always fed and watered and ignore the whining.

Thank you. We did use a co after his birth as it was quite traumatic and got stuck. It did help and we had a lot of sessions. But there is no way he would sit still for any session now. He is very strong and physical and will not be touched by people he is unsure off.

It is a nightmare getting shoes for him. He won't let any doctor near him. Everything about him is a challenge.
I miss my other children as I am too frazzled to spend quality time with them and they prob get the brunt of my irritation as well as a Whiney db.

I work 3 days in a professional job. But it's def not a break (long commute etc). So am exhausted when at home and spend days off and weekend doing jobs and caring for the children. The toddler has lots of quality time (toddler groups, walks, park etc), but when that ends the whining starts. The more I think about it, I feel as though I will crack.

Have you ever considered he might have sensory issues? The things you say about not wanting people near him, the constant whinging and everyone else's mood depending on him remind me of my 3yo who is being assessed for (amongst other things) sensory problems. there's some good info on this site - it might be worth looking to see if anything rings a bell, if so the special needs boards have been great for us

Where is he when you're at work? What does cm/nursery say about him?

My mil has him at our house. He is happy in her care and she is attentive to him. Although he still whines if he does not have her sole attention.
