Hi all,

I just wanted to know at what age did your DCs start eating movies ? 22 no DS watched his first Winnie the Pooh movie while we were on holiday last week.... while it was refreshing to have some quiet time when DS was engrossed with Winnie, it also got me thinking about whether it was too early ??

Also, when did you start taking your DCs to the cinema? Obviously I am only talking about movies which would be age appropriate for him..

TIA Smile

DD was nearly 3 and was fine, DS still struggles to sit through a whole film at the cinema at 6.

We took DC2 to a Kids Club screening quite young, maybe 18mo because DC1 (4yo) wanted to see it. At £1 a ticket we didn't mind having to take him out for bits, but he did "watch" a fair bit too.

I would say around 3-4yo they can just about tolerate a film, maybe a bit older, without having to have a break for the toilet or just a walk about. My DC1 probably could have gone a bit earlier.

Start with a Kids Club screening of a non-current film and see how you get on?

Obviously with shorter DVD movies like Tinkerbell and Thomas, a 2yo can cope with that much more easily than a longer film like Toy Story.

Thanks all for the quick replies Smile

Since we are on this topic....A fried of mine recently took their 3 yo for the new Transformers movie.. 3D... I was shocked beyond measure as I thought it was completely inappropriate!!
But my friend thought it was ok as his son liked all the action and sat through the entire movie...

Was I being unreasonable... ?!?

Took 2.8 year old to the cinerma last week to see Planes 2. He was up and cstanding on his seat a bit. Haribo used to get him to sit still at one point. It was not to bad. Only took him because he loved the DVD of first film so much (and the Cars one).

Think I will give it another 6 to 12 months before he goes again as he is still not really ready.

One of my friends takes her 2 yr old (26 months) to the cinema all the time and her DD just sits and watches, my DS also 26mo won't sit through a cartoon on television so we have yet to venture there.
