Anyone who used a Tummy Tub- what did you use when your baby grew out of it?

DS has used the Tummy Tub since his first bath and he loved it, it was so soothing when he was teeny and as he grew older and stronger he loved standing up in it and splashing about.

Our problem is now that he is 7.5 months he has well and truly grown out of it but is struggling to transition to the regular bath. He is so used to bathing upright and being able to stand that that's all he wants to do. Bath times are mostly spent with me trying to persuade him to sit whilst he tries to stand and bounce up and down. Not the relaxing bath time I am aiming for!

Any tips? What did you use once your baby grew out of the Tummy Tub?

Relaxing bath time? With a 7.5mo Grin? Sorry, not helpful!

I think we went through a phase of getting into the bath with the DCs once they were out of the tummy tub, and then it was into a Mothercare Aquapod, if they still make those? Or a bath seat of some kind?

Don't all kids stand up in the bath? :o

Smartiepants79 · 23/08/2014 22:49

Well we never used a tummy tub but used a bath seat extremely successfully.
Can't stand in them but upright bathing and very independent.
Both my daughters loved them.

we loved our tummy tub and after it - like smartiepants - a suctionned bath seat which meant dd was sitting upright. she loved it - and allowed for full splashing and coverage of entire bathroom in waters and bubbles Grin

I've ordered a bath seat, thank you for the recommendation. It's getting silly now, he just won't bend his legs at all and trying to keep hold of a slippery, wriggly baby is scaring me!

get in with him. it's the easiest way.

and you don't need to buy plastic tat every 6 months

My 7 month old loves to swim in the bath! Outside of it he is a stander - never sits. He had a bath support until 6 months, then we got a baby bath and non slip mat... but on holiday had to just fill a shallow bath... he loves it! He crawls around and splashes, and ends up on his back, swimming from one end to the other, arms and legs going mental and squealing with delight!
