Language development at 9 months

Have got myself worked up on and off about DDs language development over the last few months. Now 9 months and feel she is behind others. She makes lots of noises like vowels, screeching and raspberry blowing but not the dadada, etc. DH tries to say she is making some sounds like aboo but I am not so sure. Her hearing is fine but am worried its partly my fault as I am not good at talking to her all day.

Is there really an issue here or an worrying about nothing and it will come. What can I do to development her.

Otherwise she is sitting up and has been for months, rolling lots and trying to crawl but failing so far!

I would absolutely, 100% not be worrying about language development at 9 months. she's babbling, and that's about as much as you can hope for at that age

Sounds absolutely normal to me! If it makes you feel any better to use it, this learn to talk DVD is great and gives you a 20 min break as once they've watched it a few times it becomes like hypnosis! It also has a really good parents bit on how to encourage your child to talk. Both my dc have lived this DVD and have been early talkers, though that may be completely unrelated.

Otherwise, just chat to her. Talk about the things you're buying in the shop, the weather, nappy consistency....anything. And read books.

She's doing fine though.

Honestly, don't worry, she's only 9 months!

Mine were all early talkers but 9 months is very early. I find the best way for them to learn is talk yourself through everything you do and repeat words over and over.

My ds is 16m and his speech is just starting to take off. Any time he says a proper word I repeat it back to him 'yes ds an apple, well done'.

She's a baby. They don't talk.

Seriously, by 18 months it will be different, but give you, and her, a break at this stage. I mean that in a really nice way.
