How old is your baby?

PacificDogwood · 17/08/2014 15:52

If breastfed, likely normal.

If otherwise well and undistressed, may still be normal.

If not well, we need more info: age, milk, other symptoms.

My 8wo breastfed baby goes 4-5 days. Absolutely within normal range if your baby is breastfed.

Mine was breastfed and frequently went this long without going.

Is your baby in pain?

luckiestgirlintheworld · 05/09/2014 15:03

Yep, mine went through a stage of that for a couple of months. So did my brothers. Just stopped doing it and now poos once a day.

Buffy81 · 06/09/2014 20:01

Same with my lb who is 2weeks old and formula feed. Try giving them an ounce of cooled boiled water as that can help loosen things up. Try moving their hips in a cycling movement, laying them on their tummy for a little bit. I found that after doing some of those, it helped as noe have at least 1 poo every 1/2 days

How old is your baby? Under 3-4 weeks it can be a sign they're not getting enough milk. Is your lo gaining weight ok? My dd didn't poo for days when she was two weeks old because she was tongue tied and not getting enough milk.

I'm with qumquat. Don't necessarily dismiss it as normal if baby is young and BF. Infrequent dirty nappies can be a sign of insufficient milk intake. How's their weight?
