Hi can anyone tell me if I will need to put sun cream on my 3 month old on holiday (Europe, mid 20's temperature)? What would you recommend, are there special types for babies? Also what does a baby wear in a swimming pool in terms of nappies? Is there a special type and what are they called etc? Should I just put DC in these all holiday or just when knowing DC will be in water? Thank you I'm clueless!! Grin

Babies should be kept out of direct sunlight so shouldn't need suncream.

You can buy disposable swim nappies in supermarkets. These don't keep wee in so don't use them ask the time!

It might be less bulky to pack a cloth swim nappy and let it dry bergen pool uses.

We used to let our little ones sit in the sun, usually had a sunhat on and suncream.

If you do use sun cream, make sure you do a patch test first. My SIL used Nivea sun cream on her LO and it made her face swell up. Boots own brand is fine though, must be an ingredient that she is allergic to.

Although, we do suffer with sensitive skin/eczema in our family so I'm not surprised!

You would be well advised to have some sunscreen available even if you plan to keep your baby out of the sun. If you want to do sightseeing or shopping with your baby in a carrier the sunscreen is essential.

A sunhat is very useful as some babies hate sunscreen in hair.

As others have said, swim nappies exist but should just be for in the pool and in my experience it is only worth trying babyswimming if the pool is heated.

www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+quick-drying-all-in-one-sunsuits-in-baby-sun-and-swimwear+b2895 - a sunsuit and baby suncream for any exposed areas would be advised. Only use swim nappies when in the water and proper nappies the rest of the time as they dont hold in pee.
