I was having guests around this eve but they called to say one of them has a cold. I told them then not to come around... I have a 6 week old who was 4 weeks premature so she is only 7 pounds 10 ounces. Do u think I am being over the top? would u have cancelled?

thank u all xx

Not over the top at all. Guests with colds and little babies do not mix. Congratulations on your lovely baby. x

Not over the top at all. I personally wouldn't go near a baby with a cold, especially a prem baby. I'm sure your guests will understand.

I would have done the same. I hope your baby is better soon and I hope you can have a nice quiet evening with you and dp.

I have have a newborn DD. I would have canceled immediately. Of course you haven't over reacted.

Sorry I read the op wrong! Your baby doesn't have a cold silly me. I'd cancel if my baby had a cold, or if the guests had a cold, hopefully your baby's first cold is a long way off Flowers

My dd got a cold at 10 days old. It was a nightmare! Did you know that coughing and sneezing seem to be learned as she didn't do it, she just cried. And cried. For over a week.

Def did the right thing, once baby is a little mor robust, not such an issue, but can have a serious impact for over a week.

Lovelise · 16/08/2014 11:15

Definitely did the right thing. I still stay WELL clear of ill people and my DD is 4 months old.

slightlyinsane · 16/08/2014 12:54

Nope you didn't overreact and the fact they phoned to tell you shows they were being considerate and giving you a choice. My prem twins have got their first cold at 12 wks, 8 corrected and it's not nice for them and only want cuddles not visitors.
