Car seat in front

DS has always travelled in the front in his stage 1 car seat as it was extremely difficult to get him in the back and the seat fitted far more securely in the front, it was fairly loose and wobbly in the back.

I've recently bought him his next car seat which is for 9 months - 3 years, the britax prince.
I tried fitting it in the back and again it has been extremely loose and moving about a lot.
I've tried it in the front and it's far more secure my only worry is that it will block my vision as the head guards (?) stick out a bit but not particularly badly.

Does anyone else have this size car seat in the front?
I'm thinking of going to halfords or mothercare tomorrow and asking if they will fit my car seat in the back for me to see what they think to it?

I'd really like him to go in the back but it the seat can be rocked side to side if you tug it!

Thanks in advance for any advice

I would go and get it fitted to see if they can help you. Mine have both always travelled in the back as it is safer. My oldest is 10.

I have to say, I can't imagine not being distracted by a car seat with a child in it next to me.

I really hope they can sort it some how, I just don't get why it wobbles so much!
I've driven with him next to me until now and I've never been distracted so that's not a problem, I'd just really like to move him to the back as like you say it is safer and I would also like the use of my passenger seat back!

I would definitely get it fitted. Silly question, but could it be that the seat isn't compatible with your car?

We got our carseat from Mothercare and needed it to be compatible with our car and my mothers. After they checked through all the options we only had the choice of two car seats which were compatible with both cars, actually made the choice process easier but shows how few are compatible with all cars.

Yes, go and see if you can get some help fitting it. We have this seat and it needs to be just right. You need to make sure the seat belt is free of any twists etc and that it is pulled super tight. when you first put it through the back and clip it in you need to make sure the waist belt it pulled as tight as possible and then pull the shoulder strap really tight into the red clip. I also re tighten every time we use it to make sure. It doesn't feel as tight fitted as our first sear but is fine when fitted tight!

You can buy foam rolls which you wedge into the gap that is causing it to wobble. A rolled up towel does the same or you can get similar thing cheap from b&q, I think to insulate pipes. I will try and get a link.
