Baby in own room

I'm just wondering when they say a baby has to sleep with parents for 6 months and this is due to or partly due to the parents breathing does the same apply for siblings? If a baby is sleeping in the same room as a 4 year old does it do the same thing?

Just reading a thread about baby going into it's own room and people pointing out guidelines but do the guidelines state parents or can it be anyone else? What difference does it make?

I'm fairly sure the guidelines say parents (or other adult carers if child is not with their parents)

Can't explain the breathing for you sorry.

Is there a particular reason you want to move baby before 6 months? We were lucky ds' s cot fitted in our room when he outgrew the moses basket but I know some people don't have the space.

If that's the issue how about a travel cot or smaller cot?

I was reading a thread about moving a baby in own room and said DS went into his own room at 10 weeks however at the time we lived in a different house with thin walls and bedrooms next door our current house is an older house with thick walls and the livingroom is between the bedrooms so I wouldn't want another baby in there as I wouldn't hear unless crying. It made me wonder what the stance is in being with siblings, as we have a 2 bed and when we have another it will eventually go in with DS.
