Your baby at night..

...if you know your baby is wet during the night but they are fast asleep as it has not woken them should you wake them immediately and change them or let them sleep until they wake and then change them so that you don't disturb their sleep?

I don't know what you should do but I wouldn't wake my 4 week old unless nappy was bursting full...!

Wet? Leave them as they are. They'll sleep in a wet nappy until they stop weeing at night (i.e. years). Dirty? Change, otherwise they'll get sore.

Sorry when I say wet I mean wet enough that their babygro is also damp and their sheet...but they haven't woken yet

I used to always change DDs nappy at such times, she always sleeps through it. Maybe because I used to change her...

If they're soaked that much of course you change them.

The nappies are size 2 but he's still only 8 weeks so although the package says they fit his weight I think maybe he should still be in newborn nappies?

Possibly he just did a lot of wees. I think they say go a size bigger at night to stop leaking but I never noticed any difference.

I've been very impressed (well my mum really) at how modern nappies can keep the baby dry while being so full of wee. The only times my little one has leaked either the nappy wasn't on properly (didn't pull the edges out properly on the legs or the tabs have come loose) If it wasn't user error then I went up a size and that usually fixed the problem.

Oh and if clothes are wet I would try to gently change the baby without waking him/her up

in this instance change him, it could be that the nappy slipped or wasn't fastened tight enough. Ordinarily I wouldn't wake (let sleeping babies lie!).

If it was just wet I would just unstick the Velcro bit and just pull out the top couple of inserts and quickly do it back up without waking baby but this wouldn't be possible if it was a disposable?

It was a size 2 pampers nappy that this happened with so I think it's maybe just too big or I'm not doing them up correctly. I favour the supermarket own brands and think I need the newborn sizes still even though baby is on the upper weight limit of what they recommend

Def change if soaked through.

My dd can outwee a pampers in 6 hours. Lidl ones last longer at around 8 hours. Haven't tried any others as we use cloth except on hols.

Don't go by the weight limits they mean bugger all in reality. They all fit differently and 8 wks sounds too old to still be in newborn sizes, even my prem twins were insize 2 ffairly quickly and t2 is possibly needing size3 soon. You might also find that you need a bigger one at night than during the day. 1 of mine pees for England during the dark hrs

pampers do newborn nappies in size 3, I've just moved our 6kg 9 week old into them!

Pampers also do the 'baby dry' range which we use over night as it seems they never get full.

I don't work for pampers by the way I just prefer them!

(agree, if soaked through to baby grow I would change)

I don't wake my ds to change him when wet (he's 8 months) and never have.

Nappies - try next size up if they leak. I use pampers and find them very good x

My 7 week old dd leaks out of pampers we were going through 4 sets of clothes a day she has never leaked once with aldi nappies. She feeds twice during the night when you ladies do night feeds do you change the nappy at each feed even if only wet we do I wonder if we maybe should leave it sometimes if it isnt too wet so she kind of stays more asleep I hate leaving nappies on too long though I probably change her far too often when she was first born we went through 37 nappies in 2 days Shock

I wouldn't wake them if just wet. If it's poo it's a different matter ( in more ways than one)!

I stopped changing my ds at night when he stopped having a poop at every feed, and also put him in the next size up of baby dry nappy to avoid changing. He would always take much longer to settle if if changed him.

I find both of mine can soak through Pampers in 4 hours (6 weeks old and premature twins now about 6lb)
Tesco own brand were even worse! Always soaking through to clothes.
It never occurred to me to use the next size up as they are still small, but I guess that could be it!

I would change, he will just wake up a short while later otherwise, and wouldn't want nappy rash.

I used to dreamfeed baby and change nappy around 11pm for ages ( meant they then slept until 8/9am(

If its a boy have you made sure his willy is pointing down?

My 10 week old is still in size 2 newborn nappies (asda or Aldi depending where I do the shop) and no problems with leaking.
