Weaning!

I have been advised by health visitor not to start weaning until my boy is 6 months old. Is that classes as 24 weeks? He is currently 20 & has suddenly started feeding 3 hourly including through the night. He was previously going 4 hourly and sleeping 8 hour stretches. I am exclusively breastfeeding and I'm not sure how much longer I can keep this up. I want to do what's best for him and would find it easier if he took my Ebm but he refuses a bottle. Any tips?! X

Must be 26 weeks. You are not encouraged to wean in response to increase in hunger as milk has more calories than normal food. There is a growth spurt at about 6 months and babies need the calories. Filling them up with baby rice or fruit etc is not going to help.

There is a weaning section under feed the world

I noticed my dd can sometimes feed more frequently and when I look back at the day it is possibly because she was distracted and didn't take as much as usual.

6 months is 26 weeks not 24. Sounds like he is having a growth spurt

Thanks guys! Just needed a little reassurance to wait. Having pressure from some friends and family to try baby rice but I will just go with the extra feeds. Matchsticks & coffee required.

Ps how do I find the "feed the world" section? First time on this site

Weaning section
Breastfeeding section

You'll find really good support with both :) It's really common for them to go through a growth spurt at this age. Hang in there!
