DD driving me mad since DS has come home

DD is 21 months and DS is a week old tomorrow. When I was pregnant I couldn't imagine loving another baby as much as DD and I was worried that I wouldn't bond with the new baby. But now that it is here it is almost the opposite. She is really interested in the baby but she is way too rough. When I ask he nicely to be gentle she gets angry and hits me or the baby. She was quite well behaved before he was born but now she is the biggest brat ever. She throws a tantrum every 10 minutes or so and is so naughty. When I tell he off she just laughs. I try to spend quality time alone with her everyday and have been giving lots of cuddles and kisses but when she does something wrong I have to tell her right?Does anyone have any suggestions for me to get my lovely daughter back? Thanks

She is jealous of the newborn. Quite normal and she will get used to him. She needs lots of reassurance and praise for her good behaviour to reinforce it. Give as a little attention as possible to the bad behaviour.

She is so young. You are possibly expecting far too much from her. This is a massive change for her.

Sorry no advice, but just to let you know I am going through exactly the same thing, dd 3.3 and ds now 10 weeks old, I could have wrote your post myself!...I'll be watching this post for any advice (-: xx

I've got a 20 month gap and I'll be honest, its taken at least 3 months for the dust to settle and for everything to get back to normal. Don't forget that your hormones will still be all over the place, you might be reacting differently which will be confusing to your dd. My ds took to biting me when dd came along.
