throwing stuff off his highchair

My 21mth old has today thrown a full beaker with military precision onto my foot, most of his food a couple of metres across the kitchen... As soon as he's finished his food he does this. I have resorted to a tug of war... Nothing seems to work, am I the only one?

What do you mean by a tug of war?
I would suggest you don't react. Ignore the throwing things on the floor. And I am sure his hitting your foot with his beaker was more by luck than design!
Give him small portions of food so that he finishes what he has, then he can have more. Not bigger portions that he can't finish which he then wants to throw across the room.
I think most kids go through this stage. My dd certainly did. She was great at dropping peas off the side of her highchair!

Find me a child that doesn't do this.

Mine are not interested in food so if I give them a small portion first there is NO way they will ever have seconds / more .., so I start big. When they start chucking stuff I know they are full - they are now much older but they start with big plates and these are removed once they start mucking about.

With my DS, things that have been accidentally knocked over get returned. Things that have been deliberately dropped/thrown don't get returned. I would take the chucking of food to be a clear sign that he is full!

Don't get into a tug of war as he will think it's a great game. Same with returning things to him that he's dropped/thrown.

Its more the bowls etc.. That he throws after he's finished eating. The tug of war is basically grabbibg the bowl before he chucks it at me!
