Hi, trying really hard to stop BF my 15month old DS and it's so so hard. He just screamed at me for an hour and a half non stop grabbing at my top. I tried everything, food, bottle, paddling pool, went for a walk, buggy, backpack, carried him, cuddled him, went to a playground, swings, slide, mini bloody tractor!!! Nothing. It seems like the only way he's ok is if my husband is there so I can keep my distance. But I don't want to stay away from him!!! This is so hard. I'm still feeding him first thing in the morning and that's it. I wanted to cut down gradually but am starting to think cold turkey might be better...... Help!!!

Don't go too cold turkey or you might get mastitis. All I can say is what worked for us about that age, lots of distraction and loads of food generally to keep him really full. I think it was about sixteen months we stopped though as he just didn seem quite ready before. Maybe just gradually reduce over next few week don't refuse if he is desperate but do it for shorter and shorter feeds, and fill him up with solids all the time. Cut the feeds he is most keen on now so for us it was bedtime, started just giving water last thing so that he got over that one before we totally stopped other feeds.and only his dad would respond to night wakings until he realised there was no more night milk.

Don't know if that's much help but good luck x

Can you go away for a couple of days and leave the baby with DH? That might do the trick
