We aren't ready for a routine as such as dd is only 3 1/2 weeks old and feeds every 2 hours but we are doing bathtime every night so she recognises it's night time, I was just wondering when it is time for a routine what do you do? The bits I've read online say to put baby in their room (or your room) but I wouldnt want to put my baby upstairs at such a young age and us be downstairs it goes against recommendations anyway how do you learn your baby it's bedtime without having to go to bed yourself at 7 or 8 o clock?

Your baby probably won't have a 7/8pm bedtime until around 3 months anyway. Once mine stopped feeding all evening I started doing a brief bath-milk-bed routine - it's up to you whether you then put them to bed in a cot upstairs or a moses basket downstairs with you and then take them up after their late evening feed.

fledermausThank you I definately couldnt do a routine yet while she feeds so regular I just get sick of people saying try get in a routine or she should be going longer between feeds try and hang her on, there's no way Im going to make my baby scream because she's hungry etc I was just curious about what people did when the time is right.
