Anyone put 6mth old into a room with older child?

I am hoping this might work as I would like the kids to share a room but I have a 19 mth boy and a newborn girl and I would like to move her into her cot in the same room as my son when she moves out of our room. He is a fantastic sleeper, god knows whether she will be or not. But has anyone ever done this?

I have. It was ok. Just put baby down earlier and make sure shes asleep before putting toddler down. We temporarily then split them up because both were getting up ridiculously early when we thought ds was prob still tired and only waking because his sister was. Now they are in the same room.again (ages 4.4 and 2.4) and is working well

My 10 month old is in with her 9 year old step sister

I did and before 6 months as there wasn't room for the cot in our bedroom. It was fine, they both slept really well and at 16mo and 3 yo have just gone into separate rooms, they do miss each other! Just make sure you are up before them, DD would often "give" the baby toys when she woke up some of which were squishy and suffocation inviting and others which were hard and fell on him. Other than that it was fine.

Watching this with interest. I have a 16m difference between my boys and keen for them to share a room when ds2 turns 6m

Yes my younger two shared a room from DS2 being about 4m - DD was then just over 2.

It was fine, she never woke even if he did.

They shared until we moved house (with a room each) - she was then 11 and he was 9! so getting to the point of needing a room each really, but up until then it was great, they were really close and played all sorts of imaginative games together which might not have happened otherwise (as they were boy and girl IYSWIM - I think sharing a room was a big feature of their first years).

Thanks for the replies! I'll plough ahead with the plan and play it by ear if it's not working.

Mine started to share when dd2 was 9 months and dd1 2.10. I put them to bed at the same time and it worked really well. They still share now at 5 and 3. The 5 yr old can sleep through anything!
