I have a whole stash of bumgenius v3 which I used with no probs for ds1. now have ds3 5 weeks and I am just not getting on with them at all, they are leaking constantly after hardly any time on and as for bm poo - disaster.

I love using cloth but am about ready to give up. I have tried extra boosting the front, playing with the rise etc vut no good. they are leaking straight out of the lefs although it looks a good fit, and around velcro at the top.

he is ab incredibly fat baby and really heavy for his age and seems a heavy wetter but I used these for his brother til he was potty trained!

I have always been very careful washing them - v little detergent, extra rinse each wash, never softener etc.

anyone able to help?

Are you using the newborn insert or the main insert?

Tbh, DD goes through phases where one brand fits and the other doesn't - I assume it's related to growth spurts. I have BG and Tots Bots so I can switch.

both! main insert with a fold over and the newborn as a booster. I think he is a very very heavy wetter already needs size 3 disposables.

I would try a hemp booster with the newborn insert then. The manufacturer of BG makes Little Weeds hemp boosters which fit really well with BG.

How often are you changing? DD was very different and we didn't need both inserts until 9 months.

Have they stretched at the leg? We were given a bunch of v3s, and they leaked when we started using them. Ones loses the leg elastic has stretched quite a bit, although they might actually fit now he's a bit older - I shall try them out! Thanks for the reminder!

they are leaking after less than 2 hrs. trying to change more frequently but he is 5 weeks and sometimes sleeps for that time after falling asleep feeding so not managing it all the time. I have some (blueberry?) microfibre/hemp long boosters I used overnight for ds1 I could try those to see of it is an absorbancy issue.

Do they maybe need strip washed to improve the absorbency?

If I were you, I'd get it touch with The Nappy Lady. She'll have a solution.

eggybrokenoff · 05/07/2014 10:51

how do I strip wash the boosters? just a v hot wash with no detergent?

OP posts:
stargirl1701 · 05/07/2014 10:54

No, it's a way of washing out any extra detergent which can impair absorbency.
