what's better for little ones?…childcare question

hello, I've got two DC - one 5 DS at school and the other DD, nearly 2. I currently work 1.5 days - it's great as I get to pick DS up most days and little one is only at (lovely) childminder for 9-3 both days as I have a family member that picks her and my son up on my full day.

However, my work now want me to do 2.5 days - with at least 2 in the office, although I'm hoping that i could negotiate this. And in Sept, I am due to start a course (an MA - so quite full-on, but it's only one day a week for the first year)…

what do you think is the best for the children? do I suggest working two long mornings, say 9-2 and then one full day (+1 full day at uni)…and then I get to pick up my son from school three times a week?? or do I just ask for two full days and suggest doing half a day's work in the evening? that means I only get to pick up my DS twice from school, but I get two clear days with DD at home…

Am totally confused as to what would work best for kids - anyone with experience of this? would love some advice - thanks.
