My 2yo loves olives but also will not touch pasta. It is weird.

PetiteRaleuse · 30/06/2014 22:08

My 3yo and my 20mo will nick the jif lemon squeezie bottle to glug from and suck the vinaigrette from salad leaves. It's a myth that young kids don't like strong flavours.

Dd is 20 months and loves gherkins too! She also loves pickled onions (big juicy ones only, turns her nose up at the little sweet silver skins) and sauerkraut. That's my love of pickles passed on I think. Grin

My 20mo DD likes steamed courgettes a lot. Today she ate almost her own body weight in courgettes. She will not, however, eat chips. Hates them. Random.

ChunkyPickle · 01/07/2014 20:35

DS1 has always had a thing for pickled beetroot (very important to warn the babysitting grandparents if he's been eating it, or you get panicked calls about blood in urine). He's pretty certain that fizzy drinks are going to kill him and looks at you with horror if you suggest he has a sip of your sprite.

DS2 will happily eat a satsuma, then start munching on the skin, but nary a smear of banana can get past his tightly clamped shut lips.

SpiffingGalore · 01/07/2014 20:35

Ds, 2.3, adores pickled beetroot. He absolutely refuses to lick the bowl or spoon when I bake brownies. Strange child.

Kidneys Hmm

When my son was tiddly widdly he hated carrots and pasta (which his best friend lived on) but he loved olives, spinach, plain yoghurt and chickpeas....I'm not sure there is rhyme or reason to what we all like.

LittleLionMansMummy · 01/07/2014 23:15

Olives and taramasalata. Hates scrambled egg though. Confused

TweeAintMee · 02/07/2014 08:08

I might add that he used to loathe all eggs in all forms but now he adores them. You have to keep trying.

DTs love cockles, vinegar, olives, pickled onion, pickles, gherkins. Anything salty / strong.

They don't like pesto at all. Which is a pain, pesto pasta has to be one of the easiest teas around.

tmae · 02/07/2014 22:45

As a young child I used to peel and eat raw garlic cloves. I thought it was delicious!

CorporateRockWhore · 02/07/2014 22:46

Both of mine will sit and eat prawns by the bowl full. They had prawn risotto for tea and loved it.

Pregnantagain7 · 02/07/2014 22:52

Dd aged 3 loves pickled beetroot and pickled red cabbage. Ds aged 9 months eats everything I'm actually on a mission to find a food hr doesn't like! Grin

MildDrPepperAddiction · 02/07/2014 23:06

My DS (4) and dd1(21mo) both love wasabi peas. Apparently they tickle their noses!

Longdistance · 02/07/2014 23:09

Dd2 who's huts turned 3, loves a bit of lemon Confused

Dd1 used to love olives. She'd put the rings on her gingers and eat them. She shine off them, but I'm working on it.

Longdistance · 02/07/2014 23:10

Oh, and dd1 loves calamari with alioli dip.

Mamabear12 · 03/07/2014 03:33

Limes and lemons! Not sure how bc they r so sour!

Toowittoowoo · 03/07/2014 09:04

last night I cooked frankfurter and pea pasta again with tomato sauce blended with roasted peppers so it was nice and sweet. 3 yr old DD1 will not eat and much pefers steamed fish and broccoli - what!?! utterly bonkers!
