Hi all,

Ds is 6 days old! Smile All well but room temperature is doing my head in! We have 3 devices that show room temperature as a feature on them, and they're pretty consistent so i know there isn't a fault. Since having ds, they've never shown below 22'c, so are always flagging up as too hot.

Even when the room has felt cooler to me, where ive put a thin jumper on etc, the thermometers still show that its too hot!

Did you or do you take much notice if the temp, or do you go with your gut like i have been doing!?

Thanks in advance xxx

Go with my gut.
Are any of your thermometers in direct sunlight? That will affect them, as I'm sure you know.

DS1 was born in December (in the UK) - I never used a room temp monitor, but went completely with my gut and my cues from him - he was a very hot baby (as is DS2) and would overheat at the drop of a hat. My central heating thermostat was set at 19 degrees, and DS1 would only wear a singlet vest and a cotton sleepsuit, and he would sleep under a sheet and a waffle blanket. No hats - he sweated through his head if he wore one; no fleecey blankets - made him sweat too much.

Take your cues from your baby - but if in doubt, cooler is better than warmer.

Same - I tend to go with gut based on what I'm wearing eg. If I'm in PJs under the duvet, I'll put DS in a sleepsuit and light bag.
The frustrating thing is that temp fluctuates in our room and he wakes up if he's cold.

The temp has shown 26 in my 15 week olds room for the last few weeks, he just sleeps in a vest with a fan on. He does seem to get hot quickly so I think he is naturally a hot baby. If he feels cool when I get up to feed him I put a blanket on him although there is little point as he just kicks it off I like the gro bags but they are a pain to get him in and out of when changing his nappy so tend to stick to blanket at the mo!
At first I really worried about the temp but now I go with how it feels upstairs.

Thanks everyone, thats put my mind at rest a little. He's been sleeping in a vest and a babygro with the fan on most of the time and he's fine so far, i'll keep going with that for a while

Thanks again! Xx
