I've posted before about weaning but just need some advice, I find the whole process totally confusing. My 6 month old loves her milk just need to know if our daily feeding routine is ok,

7.30 7 oz bottle
8.30 baby porridge
11.30-12 7oz bottle
1.30 mashed banana or fruit purée
3.00 7oz bottle
6.00 6oz bottle and dinner ie mashed potatoes, or mashed veggies
8.30ish last bottle 7oz ( sometimes doesn't finish it all )

Is this ok or am i over- feeding?? Or advice or your feeding routine so I can compare which be much appreciated xx

Over feeding - hard to judge this without giving quantities. Is it 2 teaspoons or a bowlful?

One thing I would say is that 3 meals a day at 6 months is more meals than I was doing at that age. I was offering one meal which was baby lead weaning (baby was self feeding) so not a huge amount was going in. Worked up to 3 meals regularly by about 8 to 9 months as per NHS guidelines. So I would maybe just keep your quantities offered small for a while yet, and concentrate on offering a wide variety of flavours an textures. Maybe turn one meal into just finger foods and see how she gets on.

If you are allowing your baby to take food off the spoon herself and stopping when she turns her head away/closes her mouth, then you are unlikely to be over feeding.

Have you had her weighed recently? If she's roughly tracking the same centile as last weigh ins then I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm getting her weighed this week, she has about 5/6 small spoonfuls at each meal but she's very keen to eat it, not turning her head away at all, just needed to compare other people feeding routines at six months, it's quite confusing tbh but will speak to hv this week

Try not to compare too much as everyone will be doing it differently. Rather than worry now, just aim to have dropped another bottle in x months and then another one etc. you can get this from your hv.

My son was slow to start so I hated comparing, but then he was all over it!

it looks fine to me but I would also not worry so much about 3 meals a day. but I would start adding more savoury tastes.

I also suggest finger food as well. toast. porridge balls. cooked veg like carrot and brocolli
