feel like a crud mother

I was at our toddler group yesterday and I'm usually excellent with keeping an eye on my lo. However as she gets older (she's nearly 2) she wants more and more independence. So I was chatting to another mom and saw my lo was standing on the bench. Other kuds do it with no problem and I thought she'd be Ok, but the bench slipped away and she fell on her bum then fell back and hit her head on the side of the bench. I just feel awful and a little judged even if other kids have fallen and injured themselves here in the past.mI'm eating a huge pizza now. Do you think I can show my face again at this group?

Oh please don't be too hard on yourself. Accidents happen and you'd only turned away for a short while. I'm glad your daughter is ok, and go back to the place, as I'm sure no one would have judged you. My teeny one fell off the bed the other day. I cried more than she did! Still berating myself but accidents do happen.

Oh don't be put off from going back- glad she's okay but there needs to be something to stop it from falling if the DC are allowed to stand on it.

Slips, trips and falls are part and parcel of todderhood.

Did you fill in an accident book?

Totally normal. Don't give it a second thought - no one else will Wink

I never understand these posts. Children slip and fall all the time and no parent is perfect at keeping them upright and out of minor trouble. If she is fine then it is fine.

Kids fall

It happens

They have to have accidents etc to learn

RabbitSaysWoof · 28/06/2014 21:20

A fall isn't a failure in parenting, like others say its a learning process.
