Should I be concerned? (Poo related!)

DD is 10mo and HATES dirtying her nappy. Usually at some point shortly after breakfast she will just stop whatever she's doing and start crying. I know this always means a dirty nappy and she won't stop crying until she's clean.

She doesn't seem constipated at all - she has no trouble going and the consistency is fine, but should I be concerned that she gets this upset? What else could it be?

It may just be that she doesn't like the feeling of a dirty nappy. I knew a little one not much older that got very distressed at dirty hands & wouldn't stop crying until they were wiped. Is there any sign of irritation or soreness that is making her uncomfortable ??

No, she doesn't really get nappy rash. A bit of redness every now and then that a blob of sudocrem usually sorts out. She does have a little lump which the dr has diagnosed as 'infant perineal protrusion' (it's a fairly newly identified condition - harmless and self-limiting), and one thing that can exacerbate it is constipation, so I'm just trying to work out whether there is an underlying issue here I should be tackling.

If it is at a very regular time, you could sit her on a potty and look at a book or something together? Dd hated pooing in a nappy so had a potty from about 11 months.

Obviously it won't always be practical, but might be worth a try.
