I have a niece of 17 years old who is trying to decide on which career to follow. I have advised her to keep her options open so that she does not get disappointed if she does not find what she wants right away. What can I say to help her understand the benefits of keeping her options open?

We used the analogy of going along a corridor. The more options = more doors open to you.
