(Not) washing hands

How do you get a nine year-old to wash their hands after going to the loo? Is it just repeated reminders? I thought we had this nailed but it's been slipping again and has gone from proper washing to a two second glimpse of the tap to now nothing. Do we have to ask/check every single time?

Not a lot you can do except remind him at home. Hygiene is not on their radar and won't be until they become aware of girls. Keep thinking germs are good for their immune system or you'll go potty ;)

Just nagging I guess - and maybe a strong smelling (minty or something?) soap so you can tell he's actually used it? Can you scare him with talk of worms? DD (6) will put off going to the toilet just because washing her hands takes too long (and is therefore "booooring"), whereas DD1 (5) is more inclined to "forget" to wash hersAngry
