DS has The Fear of Vomiting, how can I help him?

DS has had a couple of stomach upsets over the last six weeks and he's been left feeling very anxious about being sick. Today was his birthday and he didn't want to eat any of his birthday cake! Sad good job I hadn't spent hours modelling individual lego bricks out of fondant!
Whilst the constant "I feel sick! I can't do X,Y,Z or I'll be sick" is getting irritating, my overall worry is that this isn't going to pass. His whole demeanour is changing, from a happy go lucky boy to a worried one who is second guessing everything.
I want to help him to relax again and not worry about this. Has anyone else experienced similar?

No advice really. I have a true phobia of vomiting, have had it since I was a small child. The best advice I can give is to make sure that your DS knows that vomiting, although unpleasant, is a normal part of life and is nothing to be scared of. I was very rarely sick as a child (and have been sick once in 25 years of being an adult), and I honestly think that being sick became such an issue for me because it wasn't part of everyday life. I was rarely sick (think once every two years or so as a child) and none of my family were sick very often, so it was not 'normal' and I never got used to it. The phobia therefore got completely out of hand. Reassure your DS that everything is fine and it doesn't matter if he is sick.
