It always astounds me how when a child is a whingy / naughty / annoying little brat

It's that same phenomenon which strikes women whose partners do housework and look after the kids, oh, I meant 'babysit'. They're SO lucky!

I said as much to someone once - when they commented on how good my boys were at church - "well I have worked hard at it with them you know" - guess that's wnothe of thoser weird things that other people think they can say to you just because you have children.
Someone said to me the other day that he was surprised I was having another baby as he thought I hand my hands full enough with the other two....

Twiglett · 05/09/2006 14:05

oh yes babysit your own child arrggghhhhhhhhhhhh

I have been in one breath told off for being too strict because I wouldn't let DS raise his voice in a doctor's waiting room and in the next been told how lucky I am that I have 'good' children

Yes, I've been told: "you've been lucky since day 1 with your dd regarding sleep!!" How INFURIATING, no matter how many times you say "IT AIN'T LUCK" they still say it every time they see you!

FluffyCharlotteCorday · 05/09/2006 14:29

I think it's just part and parcel of traditional women's work really - if you do it badly, it's noticed and commented upon, if you do it well, it's taken for granted as the norm. Like tidy houses.
