Am i mad to consider taking a relatively newborn (3 months) abroad on holiday. Only to Eurpope but even so is this a crazy bad idea? I would be interested to know your opinions and any advice/warnings etc. Or should I give it a miss. Its my first child!

Have you had the baby yet? Smile

I took DS1 to Prague for the weekend at 10 weeks. Then when Ds2 was about the same age, and DS1 a toddler we went to Istanbul.

It is perfectly doable. Small children are very portable and don't need constant entertainment/ potty stops/ ice lollies etc. If you are bottle feeding that's a bit of a faff but you can get portable bottle sterilizers and fill a suitcase with those small cartons of formula and you are good to go! If you are BF of course it's even easier.

Completely doable! We took DD on a road trip around Crete when she was 3.5mo. We took a cheap stroller, sling and also her car seat, and managed to have days on the beach plus did a few hikes. She was BF which made things pretty straightforward.

Have a great holiday and let me know if you need any more advice!

Have you had the baby yet?

Yes indeed. All babies are different. Some will be absolutely fine. Others will not. You don't know in advance which type you're going to get.

I barely left my postcode in the first 3 months of DD's life never mind leaving the country. She was extremely hard work (for example, she only slept on my chest, including nights) and we were totally exhausted.

If you've already had your baby and they are a textbook baby who feeds and sleeps well then go for it!

Yes
Ds 1- Athens at 6 weeks ( family wedding)
Ds2 - Cyprus at 6 weeks (family), at 12 weeks we all went to Vietnam for 6 weeks.

Both times great. Baby slept in sling and breastfed so easy to feed and transport. Everyone loved them, and I was instructed to relax with baby :)

We are off the france, going by boat with a long drive both sides. This is our first baby and she is 3 months. We are just going to take it as it comes! We have the car so have the ability to pack lots!! where are you thinking of going?
