Looking for people who left it as long as possible before bathing their newborn

Anyone left it as long as 3 months? Or until they were crawling? Or eating solids?

And how often did you do it from then on? I've heard of a few people doing it every 10 days.

Obviously hands, face, nappy area, neck folds are still cleaned throughout the day with plain water.

Why do you ask, OP?

Mine have all had baths by about day 3 and then nightly baths thereafter. They all love it (even the 4 month old) -it's like an extra playroom - and now it's just routine.

weegiemum that's terrible, I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Sad

I first bathed DD after 3 weeks, when her stump dropped off. She is now 19 months and has a bath once a week unless she done a messy activity, is covered in food or has got got and sweaty. Generally though she has a bath once a week. Just hands, face, feet and nappy area every day. She has the softest skin I've ever felt!

DD had her 1st bath after a week. This was mainly because we were in hospital and couldn't wash her there.

Waited about a week with both of them until their cord stumps had dried out. We then had about a week of every other day but it quickly became a nightly thing because a) they both loved it and it instantly calmed them down if they were having a grumpy evening, b) it got them started on the beginnings of a bedtime routine and c) I love having a bath fresh baby bundled in a towel to put in fresh pyjamas and can't resist...

My dd was in scibu/hospital for the first few weeks, so it was about 2 weeks for her. We then gave her a bath about once a week over the next few months - she had a stoma so we never used bubble bath as it irritated the wound.

With ds, I'd had a section so couldn't give him a bath and dh is very nervous of teeny babies so it was a couple of weeks. And again baths were about once a week.

I am now expecting my 3rd. I think this one will go in the bath sooner as dd is beside herself with excitement about the new baby going in the bath with her! Quite sweet really.
